ben green is (still) a fucking idiot. criminalizing marijuana is retarded for the following reasons: 1) law enforcement failed to demonstrate that marijuana laws can be enforced fairly without regard to race; when it was illegal, a disproportionate amount of blacks and hispanics were arrested for marijuana possession, which reinforced the perception that police officers were biased and prejudiced against minorities.
2) legalizing marijuana reduced the consumption and sales among teenagers. criminalizing marijuana makes it more valuable than what it's worth legally, which provides incentive for teenagers to make easy money selling it to their friends.
3) legalized marijuana reduces the flow of money from the american economy to international criminal gangs. marijuana's illegality made foreign cultivation and smuggling to the united states extremely profitable, sending billions of dollars overseas in an underground economy while diverting funds from productive economic development.
4) pot is awesome.

though i suppose that isn't much of a twist since they're in the middle of a snowpocalypse.
